How did you first get into photography?

My interest in photography was kindled a decade ago during my architecture studies in India. Visiting cultural and heritage sites offered me a unique perspective on creativity, art, craftsmanship, and lifestyle values. I believe that buildings and spaces serve as a vessel of cultural expression, offering future generations a connection and identity to the past.

Though my journey diverged along the way, capturing places and people with my mobile phone—and occasionally borrowing a friend’s digital camera—eventually grew into a deep passion. Since moving to Japan in 2017, a source of great inspiration, my journey as a photographer truly took flight. Here, I rediscovered my appreciation for the spectrum of architecture, from traditional to modern, beautifully harmonized with the soulful essence of Japanese streets, people, and culture.

In January 2021, I bought my first DSLR (Nikon D3500) to learn the techniques. Recently, I transitioned to my first mirrorless camera (Nikon Z6).

Through my photography practice, I have realized that this process is a journey of self-discovery, involving constant questioning of why I started and an ongoing search for what truly drives me.

What subjects or themes do you most enjoy photographing and why?

Over the years of exploration and ongoing discovery, I love photographing art and architectural spaces, people & their emotions, the dynamic scenes of street life. These elements enable me to integrate fundamental aspects of visual design into my work.

Additionally, living in Japan, I find myself irresistibly drawn to capturing Mt. Fuji, the changing seasons, and couple portraits against the stunning backdrops of Japan and any fleeting moment that draws my attention.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned through photography?

When a passion resonates deeply within you, and you recognize it, you should embrace it. For, it has the power to rekindle your soul. Personally, photography has been a transformative force, guiding me through a healing journey.

What message do you hope to convey through your photography to other women?
